Shan’s story, in her own words

When I first met with Vicki I was distraught. I felt my career had ended and I couldn’t understand why or what to do next. The only thing I remember about that meeting was Vicki telling me that it was ok to cry. To feel this way. And I was taken back, because having had coaching in the past I was used to a different slightly steelier approach to get me back on my feet.

I took her advice. And I am glad that I did. Because, although I still felt raw a few days later when we started our coaching sessions, I felt ready. I knew what I wanted to achieve.

What followed were 6 x hour-long sessions, daily check-ins on LinkedIn messenger and a few 30 min ‘OMG help me’ sessions over the course of 12 weeks.

In each session, I was challenged gently, and listened to without judgment or interruption. I learned strategies to overcome self-perceived obstacles and establish work/life boundaries. I slowly regained belief in myself – not just as a communications professional, but also as a mother and a partner.

Whilst attending coaching, I was also applying for jobs. Vicki’s recruitment expertise paid dividends here. Not only did I benefit from coaching, but advice and guidance on building a personal brand, using LinkedIn, interview techniques and someone to call on after an interview to discuss the experience, warts and all!

At the end of the 12 weeks, my confidence was back. I was ‘me’ again. The best bit – I had two job offers that I was keen to explore! Not bad for someone who thought their career was over!

“I would highly recommend Vicki as a coach. In fact, I am going to work with her again. Because everyone needs a ‘Vicki’ in their life – a non-judgmental, unbiased, and professional expert who genuinely cares, to help you grow and be your best self every day.”
